Bastille Day Ball
Summer would be incomplete without the Bastille Day Ball. Originating in 1983 under the leadership of Sally Sword, the Ball has annually attracted hundreds of people to its mid-July celebration of French unity and American philanthropy.
In 2009, Trinity Counseling Service realizes the need to change the event due to changes in our economy. As TCS is aware of how the recession has affected us all, three changes will occur.
First, all the proceeds of the event will go to help the large number of families who have turned to TCS for help. A typical problem involved a man who has lost his job, the resulting tension erupting into arguments with his wife. Their son or daughter, caught in the maelstrom of their emotions, becomes sad and angry, displacing his or her problem onto teachers and classmates at school.
Secondly, realizing that our donors have also been impacted, we have lowered what it costs to attend and support the event. Individual levels were reduced by $50 and the corporate levels for Patron and Supporter by $1,000.
Thirdly, in an awareness of a more difficult time, the event will be called the Bastille Day Celebration, and will be a simpler party, this year featuring continuous heavy hors d'oeuvres instead of a sit-down dinner, and the decorations will be more modest. The event will occur at Bedens Brook instead of Drumthwacket, the date being Saturday, July 11th.
Lastly, the purpose of the Bastille Day party was not only to raise money, but also to lower stress. Our lives are often hectic and pressured, and TCS wants to have an event that is just plain fun. You can come and visit with friends, and let your hair down and dance the night away to the popular music of The Rich Posmontier Ensemble. And this year, the weather will not be an issue, and the site is air conditioned, so coming to the Bastille Day Celebration will do much good, for those whom we treat, and for YOU.
